White House: George Bush to meet with Băsescu, Tăriceanu and Scheffer, during at NATO Summit
President George W. Bush will have bilateral meetings with Romanian President Traian Băsescu, Prime Minister Calin Popescu Tăriceanu and NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer during the NATO Summit in Bucharest on April 2-4, the White House announced.
U. S. President George W. Bush and his wife will travel to Ukraine, Romania and Croatia, starting April 2008, in order to support the advance of freedom and democracy and to strengthen the NATO Alliance cohesion in the context of the 21st century challenges, the White House said in a statement on the Presidency's website.
The U.S. president will have a bilateral program in Kiev on April 1, 2008, including meetings with the President and Prime Minister of Ukraine. The White House leader will then travel to Bucharest, to participate in the NATO Summit on April 2-4, the quoted source mentions.  
In addition to Summit-related events, President Bush will attend bilateral meetings with President Băsescu, Prime Minister Tăriceanu, and with NATO Secretary General, Jaap de Hoop Scheffer.
President Bush will afterwards leave for Croatia, to meet with the Prime Minister and the President of the country, and also the leaders of those countries Allied leaders decide to invite to join NATO at the Bucharest Summit.
President Bush's visit to Ukraine, Romania, and Croatia will stress the importance of fostering a Europe whole, free, and at peace, the White House statement concluded.
