NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer declared in Athens that the relationships between the Alliance and Serbia should remain open, despite all present problems regarding Kosovo. “Relationships with Serbia must remain honest and I consider that they are extremelly important” – Scheffer highlighted, adding that the Balkan region must be treated as a region as far as the NATO enlargement is concerned.” “Despite the present problems surrounding Kosovo, it is important that the relationship between NATO and Serbia remains very open” – Scheffer declared, quoted by the Greek news agency ANA.
