MAE Secretary of State Victor Micula told Mediafax, on Friday, that the airports in Bucharest will be open during the NATO summit and that the organizers of the event never considered closing the airports.
In a meeting held Friday morning between the Summit organizers and a team from the Ministry of Transport, the latter was informed that from the point of view of organizers, there is no plan to close the airports and such an idea has never been considered.
According to Micula, from the organizers' perspective, the objective is to keep the airports in Bucharest open. The idea is to concentrate the flights on the "Henri Coandă" Otopeni Airport, and to park the official aircrafts on the "Aurel Vlaicu" Baneasa Airport. Actually, the official aircrafts and the other airline flights will land on Otopeni and the official aircrafts will be then parked on Baneasa, Micula said.
