The President of Romania, Traian Basescu, and the Secretary General of NATO, Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, unveiled, on Thursday, in Brussels, the Logo of NATO Summit that will take place in Bucharest this spring, under the title “Wings of Freedom”. On this context, Sheffer said that the NATO Summit is not just a working meeting, but a symbol of the transatlantic relations and of the common future. “The notion standing at the roots of this organization is the notion of freedom, which is reflected in the logo we chose, the Wings of Freedom”, said Sheffer. President Basescu explained that the origin of this logo is the statue in Bucharest dedicated to the heroes of the air that fell of the line of duty during the First World War. “I am glad that the Secretary General of NATO, the one who had the final say, accepted this logo for the NATO Summit in April”, said Traian Basescu.
