Mr. De Hoop Scheffer made the announcement on the occasion of the informal meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers in Oslo. “NATO members’ decision is final. I am glad and satisfied that the Romanian authorities are determined to host 2008 NATO Summit in spring”, declared NATO Secretary General. The high - level meeting will provide the opportunity to come to Bucharest for important Heads of State and Government from 25 allied member states, among them - George W. Bush, the President of the USA and the President of France. “ 2008 NATO Bucharest Summit could mean a historic moment which must be considered an opportunity to Romania”, declared the Romanian Foreign Minister, Adrian Cioroianu at the end of the informal meeting of the Alliance, in Oslo. “We are extremelly satisfied that we reached our allies’ agreement we have always hoped for, as far as this 2008 summit is concerned”, declared Mr. Cioroianu. The chief of the Romanian Diplomatic Delegation underlined that the main reason which convinced the allies to host the NATO summit in Bucharest, was Romania’s implications in regions where NATO deployed military forces. “Along the last years, since 2002, Romania has sent the message that it not only uses the security guarantees offered by NATO, but it also takes the necessary responsibilities,” stated Mr. Cioroianu.
