During the NATO Summit – Bucharest will not be under siege

The security system displayed during the NATO Summit will be very strict – imposed by the presence of some world leaders, such as: Bush, Merkel, Sarkozy or Brown – but the event will not take place behind the barbed wire fences, and Bucharest will not be under siege – reinforced the Summit Coordinator, State Secretary Victor Micula, interviewed by NewsIn agency.
“We don’t want to create the sensation that we organize a meeting behind barbed wire fences here, in Bucharest. The security system will allow people to carry on with their daily activities”, he said. As well as in the case of the Francophone Sommet, there will be security transport corridors, regarding some boulevards, without being necessary to close them. “Thus, a certain traffic fluidity will be ensured and people’s daily activities near these safe corridors  will not be seriously affected”, Mr. Micula declared. The security corridor will include the hotels where all delegations will be hosted - Marriott, Intercontinental, Hilton, Capsa, Radisson Sas, Ramada Majestic, Best Western Park, Sofitel, Ramada Plaza, Golden Tulip, Howard Johnson, Novotel and Crowne Plaza. “People will notice that traffic could be even better than in other periods, as it happened during the Francophone Sommet. We should try to benefit from the previous experience of the Romanian institutes involved in this summit organization. Do not imagine a Bucharest under siege, as there will be a friendly and discreet security system for all citizens in Bucharest”, Mr. Micula concluded. (Source: NewsIn)
