Reunited on Tuesday, The Supreme Council of National Defense (SCND) decided that Romania should maintain its troops in Iraq and Afghanistan the next year, too, reports BBC. The Defense Minister, Teodor Melescanu, present at the SCND meeting, declared for the BBC, that Romania would send additional forces in NATO or UE missions. “Romania will honour the commitments it assumed this year, with a slight increase in Afghanistan and with a stand-by military force of about 150 military men, who shall participate in other theaters of operation governed by UN, OSCE or UE”, declared Melescanu.
