Romania supports Georgia’s accession to NATO

Returned from Tbilisi, where he attended president Mihail Saakasvilli’s nomination ceremony, president Traian Basescu stated that, Romania will support Georgia in being granted the Membership Action Plan, during the NATO Summit held in Bucharest in April. “Georgia is a very important partner of Romania to the Black Sea coast”, stated Traian Basescu on Sunday.
Referring to the NATO Summit organised in Bucharest in our country, “on which occasion Georgia hopes to upgrade its status in the Alliance”, Basescu said that “Romania fully supports the MAP granting  (Membership Action Plan) for Georgia during the Bucharest Summit, of 2-4 April”.
