NATO military alliance officially started the Bucharest Summit with a working dinner, where leaders of 26 member states are supposed to discuss about their role in Afghanistan and about the NATO enlargement process. The American Commander of the NATO forces in Afghanistan, General Dan McNeil, said all member states should be more committed to this operation whether the Alliance wants the Talibans to be defeated. Prior to his statement, the American president, George W. Bush, said the Alliance must be enlarged in order to include new members, including Ukraine and Georgia, that encounter a strong opposition from Russia.
