Tariceanu: We want the NATO Summit to bring historic decisions

Romania would like for the NATO Summit to bring historic decisions for the Alliance’s future, for extending the Alliance, or for the partnership with the Western Balkans countries, or regarding the dialogue with the countries of the Black Sea area, declared on Wednesday evening, at Palatul Victoria, the Prime- Minister Călin Popescu-Tăriceanu, on the occasion of the reception offered to the Summit participants.
Tăriceanu reminded that the Aviators’ monument, close to the Government’s headquarters, inspired the Summit logo, as it is a reflection of Romania’s history.

Hosting this Summit in Bucharest represents the full confirmation of our country’s commitment to the values and objectives of NATO. It is also a powerful stimulant to continue the efforts as NATO' s member, commented Premier Tăriceanu.
The Head of the Bucharest executive insisted on the decisions NATO will have to take regarding strengthening the security and stability in the Western Balkans, underlining that he wishes to fulfill the aspirations of these countries.
' We hope that NATO will confirm the tight connections with our friends Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro, and that Serbia will be regarded as part of this vision. We also hope that our Black Sea neighbors – Ukraine and Georgia – will be granted a closer relationship with NATO', stated the Premier.
Călin Popescu-Tăriceanu also expressed his being honoured by the presence of the partners from the Republic of Moldova, Armenia and Azerbaijan, and of those from the Central Asian states.
Also, the Premier underlined the fact that the Bucharest Summit will be "vital for Afghanistan’s future, for NATO’s future, and for the security of the entire international community'.
'We expect for the next future days of the Summit to bring some historic decisions, transforming decisions for our Alliance, for its new missions, for its new visions, for its new alliances. It is not an easy thing to do, but we believe that the quality of these transformations does not depend only on the security of another group of countries, but also on the basic values of our world', said Tăriceanu, who expressed his hope that the NATO Summit from Bucharest would leave powerful impressions to the participants about Romania and its people.
