All the countries from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea must have the same chance; here, in Bucharest, e will enlarge the circle of freedom of NATO, said early on Wednesday, in Bucharest, US President George W. Bush, during a speech delivered at the Trans-Atlantic Forum, held on the sidelines of the NATO summit.
Bush stressed Romania's importance, in NATO's mechanism, he thanked the Romanian military and authorities in Bucharest for their contribution to this security system.
Americans are proud to call Romanians partners. This is my last NATO summit. In the days to come, we will have time for reflection, for looking back, for seeing the challenges in front of us, Bush said. He reminded of his speech in Bucharest, on the occasion of his previous visit, of the rainbow on the sky of Bucharest, after rain. Bush said he will never forget that. President Iliescu introduced him to
Bucharesters, after rain, and the clouds disappeared, he said.
Attending Bush's speech at the Trans-Atlantic Forum were his wife, Laura, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, former Romanian Presidents Emil Constantinescu and Ion Iliescu, Governor of Romania's Central Bank Mugur Isarescu, Directors of the Romanian Intelligence Service and the Foreign Intelligence Service, Cristian Maior and Mihai-Razvan Ungureanu respectively, Romania's General Prosecutor Laura Codruta Kovesi, former PM Adrian Nastase, President of the main opposition party, the Social Democratic Party, Mircea Geoana, other public figures, among whom Elena Udrea, Mona Musca, Cristian Adomnitei, Constantin Degeratu.
