Premier Călin Popescu Tăriceanu declared on Thursday that current information shows that the preparations for organizing the NATO Summit in Bucharest are moving further, and acknowledged the work performed by the institutions involved, saying that he wishes for the reunion to create a favourable image for Romania.
"The Summit must bring, politicaly speaking, a contribution to the strengthening of the Alliance, and must also achieve the other NATO objectives, but also those of Romania as a member state. It is not less true that also regarding the image of Romania in the world, we are interested in this reunion to shed a favourable light on Romania, to show the world what we can accomplish.", said Tăricenu, during the Government meeting when he assessed the current stage of the preparations for the reunion.
The Premier also mentioned the Government decisions taken Wednesday regarding the work schedule for the NATO reunion, by telling the participants he had just solved “an important issue from their agendas”.
The government decided to cease the activity of some public services during the NATO Summit from Bucharest, scheduled between 2-4 of April, except for medical services, public administration and public safety institutions.
The public institutions employees who work in Bucharest will have days off between 2-4 April, and are going to cover for these on the following dates: 12th of April, 19th of April, 10th of May.
The public institutions employees involved in the organizations of the NATO Summit will not have days off, together with the medical staff from medical units endowed with beds, as well as the staff involved in giving emergency aid, the employees working for public utilities and those dealing with the public (front-desk employees).
Among others, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Finances, of Defense, of Internal Affairs, will attend the government meeeting regarding the NATO reunion, together with the Premier’s councilor for security issues.
